We’re looking for a hands-on embedded hardware engineer to design, prototype, and debug the electronics for Kyra’s smart glasses. You’ll work directly on embedded platforms such as STM32 or ESP32, integrating audio codecs, microphones, BLE, power, and other components into compact wearable hardware.
This is an individual contributor role for an engineer who enjoys building and testing real devices. You’ll own technical work from early prototypes through hardware refinement and production preparation.
What you’ll do
- Develop embedded hardware using STM32 and/or ESP32 microcontrollers.
- Integrate and bring up audio codecs, microphones, speakers or bone-conduction transducers, and audio interfaces such as I²S, I²C, and SPI.
- Implement and debug Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, including peripheral behavior, pairing, data exchange, and power-aware operation.
- Design or review schematics and PCBs, select components, and support board bring-up.
- Integrate batteries, charging, power regulation, antennas, sensors, and display interfaces as required.
- Build prototypes and debug issues using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and RF or audio test equipment.
- Improve power consumption, audio quality, wireless reliability, board size, and system stability.
- Work with firmware, mechanical design, and manufacturing partners to prepare the hardware for production.
What you’ll bring
- Practical experience developing embedded hardware with STM32, ESP32, or similar microcontrollers.
- Experience integrating audio codecs and digital audio peripherals; familiarity with microphone signal paths, gain, noise, and audio debugging.
- Hands-on BLE development or hardware integration experience.
- Ability to read and create schematics, support PCB design, and bring up prototypes.
- Strong debugging skills and experience working with lab instruments.
- Experience with battery-powered devices and low-power design.
- A track record of personally building compact consumer electronics, wearables, hearables, or similar products.
Good to have
- Experience with smart glasses, hearables, AR/VR, or other head-worn devices.
- Knowledge of antenna design, RF testing, acoustic design, or bone-conduction audio.
- Experience taking a product from prototype toward manufacturing.
How to apply
Email us your resume and links to hardware you’ve built. Photos, schematics, or repos all help.
